“The Three Stages of Transition: endings, the neutral zone
(the wilderness) and making
a beginning.”

We need to admit that the “endings” of the 50’s mentality have long since past. We need to finally embrace the neutral zone (the wilderness) and be willing to make the investment of time and resources and the hard work of change, then to be prepared for the Beginning. To do anything less is to create short term bandages, instead of long-term sustainable transformations.

We are definitely “In the Wilderness” as a Foundation. “In modern parlance hope can be very passive.  It is a wish without risk or responsibility. In the wilderness, hope in an active verb. Saint Augustine said that hope had two beautiful daughters—anger and courage.” (Gil Rendle-Journey in the Wilderness-2010)

Leadership Intiatives For Transformation

“Synergy – combining elements
to produce a strong result.”

It is time to enter a beginning.

It is through sharing our stories
that we become one community…personally, professionally, politically and philanthropically. Now more than ever, we need to talk with one another, listen to each other and understand how each of us sees the world.  Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful committed citizens can change the world; indeed it is the only thing that ever has…Margaret Mead.

Thankfully, there has been recognition by many members of the NMCMFI that Foundations need to be more of an “edge organization” directly working with local congregations to achieve their local purpose financially. To that end we have to provide the knowledge of how to become generous givers through clearly understanding how to become a  disciple of Jesus Christ.

The New Mexico Annual Conference and New Mexico Conference Methodist Foundation, Inc. have joined forces with Landsun Homes and Sacramento Assembly Christian Camp and Conference Center to bring about a new synergy. Combined, these four entities will offer clergy, laity and training for local churches all of which will be offered through the new L.I.F.T. (Leadership Initiatives For Transformation) Center. We understand that several leaders and institutions are creatively struggling with new strategies to stay afloat financially in spite of today’s economy, and continue to maintain and grow their congregations in order to pass the faith experience to next generations. Strong, healthy clergy and lay leaders will help reverse decline by sending forth effective leaders into the world – drawing new people to Christ, encouraging bright leaders to consider their calling into ministry within the church and in the world, and serving as agents of God’s transformation in the world.
