Welcome!

The New Mexico Conference Methodist Foundation, Inc. enlarges and develops the financial resources available to churches, institutions and agencies in the New Mexico Annual Conference in order to carry out their missions and ministries.

United Methodists can use trusts to support UM ministries during their lifetimes and from their estates after they pass away.

A trust is an instrument that allows a donor to transfer property to satisfy multiple interests and objectives. A trust is like an “artificial person” who owns and manages property for a period of time for the benefit of one or more people or ministries.

A trust lets you make charitable gifts that help you first meet financial needs by providing a fixed or variable income. It ensures your assets of property, stocks or money are directed according to your desires. Criteria can be set for dissolution of a trust, such as reaching a specific age, before a recipient receives distribution of your assets.

There are three primary types of trusts: Charitable Lead Trust, Charitable Remainder Trust and Charitable Remainder Unitrust.

T.J. Sivley of Artesia, N.M., established a Charitable Lead Trust in 1995 and he designated emergency and missional ministries of the New Mexico Conference to be among the recipients of annual distributions. Through the years of the trust, the Conference Board of Global Ministries received and distributed more than $147,000 in grants to ministries in the Conference. When the trust terminated after 10 years, Mr. Sivley’s assets reverted to his designated individuals or entities.
